OBJECTIVE:To evaluate pregnancy complications and the neonatal outcomes of pregnancies resulting from Assisted Reproductive Technology and to provide the possible improved method for the sake of clinical work.METHODS:Select the 947 cycles in which the patient had clinical pregnancy after Assisted Reproductive Technology from Jan.2002 to Jan. 2007 in Reproductive Center of XiangYa Hospital.Follow-up investi -gation on pregnancy results, pregnancy complications and neonatal outcomes include infant's body weight, birth defect and gender. Comparison study on multiple pregnancy and monocyesis, elderly pregnant women and pregnant women of appropriate gestational age.RESULTS:1.A total of 2761 cycle were adopted Assisted Reproductive Technology and the 947 cycles in which the patient had clinical pregnancy. Follow-up investigation on 910 cycles,663 deleveries, the incidence rate of delivery was 24.01%,the rate of heterotopic pregnancy was 8.35%,the rate of abortion was 19.18%,the rate of premature delivery was 30.32%,the rate of pregnancy complications was 49.02%.2.Giving birth to a total of 904 newborns after 663 deliveries. There were 318 preterm infants(35.18%).Among these newborns, there were 228 low born weight infants(25.22%),18 birth defect infants (1.99%).3.There were 244 multiple labors(36.80%).The incidence rate of abortion, premature delivery, pregnancy complications and low born weight infant in multiple pregnancy group was higher than the monocyesis group,There was statistical difference between two groups.4.The incidence rate of premature delivery in elderly pregnant women group was lower than the group of appropriate gestational age.The incidence rate of abortion and pregnancy complications was higher than the appropriate gestational age group. There was statistical difference between two groups.5.There were 11 cases had birth defect after IVF(2.12%,11/519),6 cases after ICSI(7.41%,6/81).There was statistical difference between two groups.CONCLUSION:1.The risks of heterotopic pregnancy, multiple pregnancy, premature delivery and low born weight infant after ART is higher than natural pregnancy. All the patients must comply with the indication.2.The multiple pregnancy after ART increases the risks of pregnancy complications, premature delivery and low born weight infant.3.ART is not associated with birth defect of newborns.ART can be safe for treatment of infertility.4.The newborns after Intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)is at higher risk of birth defect than after In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer(IVF-ET).5.The elderly pregnant women after ART increase the risks of abortion and pregnancy complications.
