Objective To investigate the expressions and the significance of NF-κB and it's target gene bcl-xL in the draining lymph nodes (inflammatory lymph nodes, metastatic lymph nodes) of oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC).Methods The draining lymph nodes'paraffin specimens of selected OSCC cases were divded into inflammatory lymph nodes group and metastatic lymph nodes group by pathological diagnosis. Immuno- histochemistry (S-P methods) was used to detect the different expressions of NF-κB(p65) and bcl-xL between the two groups. Results The positive rate of NF-κB(p65) in inflammatory lymph nodes is 30.8%, meanwhile the positive rate of NF-κB(p65) in metastatic lymph nodes is 76.9%.The differences of NF-κB(p65) positive rate between the two groups are significant (P <0.01). the positive rate of bcl-xL in inflammatory lymph nodes is 33.3%, meanwhile the positive rate of bcl-xL in metastatic lymph nodes is 73.1%.The differences of bcl-xL positive rate between the two groups are significant (P <0.01). Conclusion This study suggested that the progression from inflammatory draining lymph nodes of OSCC to metastatic ones maybe related with the expressions of NF-κB and bcl-xL.
