| Objective To evaluate the effect of perioperative application of amiodarone on the incidence of postoperative atrial fibrillation after mitral-valve replacement. Methods In this study, 40 patients who underwent mitral-valve replace surgery were randomly divided into two groups. Amiodarone group ( n = 20) was given oral amiodarone in a dose of 200 mg three times per day for 3 days before operation, and intravenous amiodarone in a dose of 600mg on the operation day. From the next day was gived oral amiodarone in a dose of 200 mg three times per day for 7 days, then 200mg twice per day for a week ,and 200 mg once per day. control group ( n = 20) was given placebo. The incidence of sinus rhythm in amiodarone group was assessed and compared with the control group.the length of stay in ICU and in hospital were observed also. Results Postoperative sinus rhythm occurred in the amiodarone group was significantly higher than that in the control group (65% vs 30% p<0.05). The time stay in ICU and in hospital of the amiodarone group shorter than that of the control group(1.9±1.3days vs 2.8±1.5days, p<0.05;11.3±2.4days vs13.4±3.2days, p<0.05) Conclusions Amiodarone can significantly reduce the incidence of postoperative atrial fibrillation in patients undergoing mitral-valve replace surgery, shorten the length of stay in ICU and in hospital. |
