Recently, much attention has been focused on the use of ionic liquids as environmentally benign reaction media. Various chemical reactions can be performed in ionic liquids. This fact is attributed to some intriguing properties of ionic liquids, such as high thermal stability, negligible vapor pressure, high loading capacity, and tunable polarity. In the last decade, there has been increasing interest in the oxidizing properties of organohypervalent iodine reagents. They had been studied extensively.More recently, ionic liquid formulations have been expanded to include ions with structurally and functionally complex side chains—the so-called"task-specific ionic liquids". The ion-supported hypervalent iodine(iii) reagent is a kind of"task-specific ionic liquids". It can be used as oxidizing agent that can be recovered and reused after oxidation. They are potentially useful ionic liquids. If we want to do some further research about this kind of ionic liquid, the precursor of"task-specific"ionic liquids is needed which contains iodine atom.In this thesis, we provided a new procedure to synthesize a kind of"task-specific ionic liquids", which can be used in the further study. In addition, we have discovered a method for iodination of phenols in this procedure. In our method, trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) is used as an oxidizing agent. The method has been applied successfully to a variety of phenols. It generally proceeds well with high yields and regionselectivity. The result has indicated that the method is easy, cheap, safe and effective and the application of trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) has been expanded.
