Objective: To understand the status, the influencing factors and thebehavior characteristics of preschool children who were injured inurban of Jinan. To provide a theoretical basis for the development ofeffective prevent measures.Methods: A cluster sampling method was used to sample 4 to 6 yearsold children in 10 kindergarten. Investigated injuries occurred amongpreschool children from September 1, 2006 to August 31, 2007. Somequestionnaire was filled out, such as self-devise questionnaire,Conners scale, temperament scale, CBCL scale and so on. Statisticswas used to analysis injury status and the relationship betweenchildren's behavior characteristics and injury.Results:1. The occurrence of accidental injury:Unintentional injury rate was 18.8 percent in urban of Jinan from 4 to 6 years old collective children. Boys were higher than that of girls (P<0.01). The frequency of unintentional injury occurred with the growth of age there is a downward trend. The first five types of unintentional injury included collision, cutting injury, hurt by sharp weapons, fall injuries, animal bites. The location of the injury most occurred is in home, the most common site of injury is head and face, followed by the lower limbs.According to the answer by parents it was found that the environment in a family had some risk factors, the first three factors were: heat or power was easily touched by children, drugs were stored in places where children easily won are children played bicycle or scooters lonely.2. Relationship between children's behavior characteristics and unintentional injury:It is found that the difficult care temperament children increased the relative risk of 3.486 times than other children. The level of activity and attention dispersion of temperament dimensions had significant relationship with children's injury (P <0.05).In Conners scale investigation, It was found that the unintentional injury children's behavior problems, physical and psychological obstacles, hyperactivity - impulse factor made a higher score than children control group. There were significant differences (P <0.05).In CBCL scale, it showed that in accident group boys from 4 to 5 years old three behavioral factors including depression, attack and violating discipline scored higher than that of control group (P <0.05).As girls ,social withdrawal, attacks and violating discipline were higher than control group. In 4 to 5 years old group, the behavioral problems rate in accident group were significant higher than control group (P <0.05).Conclusion:The unintentional injure rate of preschool children was in a high level. More psychological and behavior problems existed in preschool injured children. Psychological intervention measures should be taken to reduce the occurrence of accidental injury of children.
