| Objectives: To report a case of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the gallbladder, and to review the related literatures. In this paper, we will discuss the pathogenesis, clinical and pathological characteristics, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of this rare disease. Methods: Describe the clinical symptoms and signs, laboratory findings, imaging examinations, pathologic and immunohistochemical results of this case. And also review the related literatures. Results: A 54 years old man was hospitalized in our hospital with complain of pain in the upper abdomen for 10 days. CT (computed tomography) scan of the abdomen showed a mass in the base of gallbladder. A successful cholecystectomy was performed and the pathologic examination revealed a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the gallbladder. After the operation, the patient was treated for 6 cycles with rituximab combined with CHOP regimen chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone). Two months after chemotherapy, the patient developed ascites with peritonitis. The emergency operation revealed wide dissemination of tumor in the whole abdomen, and also a jejunal perforation. The patient was final died of pulmonary infection and digestive bleeding. Conclusions: Primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the gallbladder is a rare type of the primary extranodal lymphoma. Its clinical symptoms and signs are nonspecific, and the diagnosis of primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the gallbladder always based on the operative pathological diagnosis. Operation, chemotherapy and molecular targeted therapy are helpful. |
