Study On The Gene Mutation Of MYOC And OPTN In Twin Pair Of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma In Yunan

Objective To study myocilin gene (MYOC) and optineurin gene (OPTN) mutation in a twin pair of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) in Yunan.Methods The twins and 22 relatives were examined by ophthalmologists. Twins were identified Extract DNA of the twins. All coding sequences of the MYOC and OPTN gene plus the flanking sites were amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using genomic DNA from the twins followed by sequencing of the PCR products.Results the direct sequencing results of the twins is no double-no abnormalchanges.. We found that the MYOC gene and OPTN gene mutations is not related tothe monozygotic twins.Conclusion genetic factors may be not play an important role in primary open angleglaucoma, nongenetic factors must also be included such as environment..
