An Investigation Of Lipids Levels And Ankle-brachial Index Among Isolated Population In Sichuan Province

Objective To research the level of blood lipids and ABI value among the isolated population in Panzhihua city of Sichuan province,and investigate the morbidity of peripheral arterial disease(PAD).Methods 1194 volunteers from Yumen,Yumen Erping,Hongbao Miaozu,Tuanjie,Waluo and Yankou Yizu,who were aged 18.59～86.14 years,were enrolled in the study.Ankle-brachial index(ABI)was measured and vein blood was collected to measure blood lipids.Results The total levels of TC, LDL-C,TG and HDL-C of the isolated population were respectively 4.14±0.94 mmol/L,2.03±0.63 mmol/L,1.80±1.68 mmol/L and 1.47±0.41 mmol/L.The LDL-C level was lower than 2.6mmol/L which was the target level suggested by ATPⅢfor CHD and CHD risk equivalents.The lowest LDL-C level was Yumen Erping and Yankou Yizu,which was 1.86mmol/L.This level is almost same to the target level suggested by ATPⅢfor the very highest risk patients(1.82 mmol/L).The highest HDL-C level is Hongbao Miaozu,which was 1.70±0.46 mmol/L.The LDL-C level of Yumen was significantly higher than that of any other area(P＜0.01), but the HDL-C level was significantly lower than that of any other area(P=0.003). There were significantly differences in the 4 lipid levels between Yumen and other 5 villages(P＜0.001)after adjusting other factors.The total ABI value was 1.04±0.12. Most of them belonged to normal according to the American standard for the APD (66.7%).The morbidity of PAD was 10.2%,which was lower than 12%in foreign countries.The ABI value of Yumen was significantly lower than that of other 5 villages(1.03±0.12 vs 1.06±0.11,P＜0.001),the contrary was seen in PAD(13.1% vs 6.5%,P＜0.001).The age,gender,lipid level,history of hypertension,CHD,DM, stroke,smoking had no significantly difference between PAD and non-PAD(P＞0.05). Conclusion The LDL-C level of isolated population in Sichuan province was very lower,and this level can be used to instruct the lipid lowering therapy.The ABI value was higher,and the morbidity of PAD was lower.
