Investigation Of The Distribution And Utilization Of Medical Radiological Equipment In Suzhou

Objective: This research aims to offer original data for reasonable allocation of medical radiological equipment,and construct consummate and basic information by investigating the distribution and utilization of medical radiological equipment in Suzhou.Methods:Design questionnaires and train investigators. All medical units registered in administration center of Suzhou were included. The above selected medical units were completely investigated by investigators coming from CDC of Suzhou urban arer, district and county under the same condition of quality control. Collect the questionnaires and establish database associated with distribution and utilization of medical radiological equipment. The information obtained from investigation was analyzed by statistical software SPSS and Compared with information published by UNSCEAR (1993 and 2000) and national medical radiation levels gained during the 9th Five-Year Plan period.Results: 1.Most of the medical units carrying out all kinds of X-ray diagnosis distributed in Suzhou urban arer. In Suzhou, the amounts of common X-ray machines, mammary gland photograph and dental film photograph possessed by per million persons were less than global average level published in the statements of UNSCEAR 2000, especially for dental film photograph. Application of X-ray diagnosis showed an increasing tendency year by year. 2. Utilization of nuclear medicine and radiotherapy has stasistical difference regionally and the equipment mainly distributed in municipal districts. The amounts of nuclear medicine diagnosis equipment were more than those in Eastern China and those in whole country during the 9th Five-Year Plan period. Usage of nuclear medicine in diagnosis showed a rising tendency year by year. 3. 92 percent of radiotherapy utilization in Suzhou distributed in Suzhou urban arer. The amounts of radiation therapeutic equipment were still not optimistic. Conclusion: 1. Resources of medical radiological equipment mainly distributed in Suzhou urban arer. 2. Except for the effect of fluid population, the amounts of all kinds of medical radiological equipment got close to those published in the statements of UNSCEAR 2000 and those reported by medical radiological equipment investigation during the 9th Five-Year Plan period. 3. There were several factors mainly affecting demand of hygiene service, such as development of urban economy, amount of fluid population and mean life-span. According to requirement and utilization of hygiene service, distribution of medical radiological equipment resources should be adjusted in Suzhou.
