| Objective:To analyze the clinical significance of determination ofβ2-microglobulin and C-reactive protein in patients with multiple myeloma. Methods:A retrospective analysis was used ,the data came from 35 hospitalized cases, treated in department of hematology between 2006 and 2008.The MM patients were classified into 3 guoups according to Durie-Salmon staging system, significant differences ofβ2-microglobulin and C-reactive protein among 3 groups, and explore the association of Durie-Salmon staging withβ2- mieroglobul and C-reactive protein .Resule: Of the 35 patients,18 were men and 17 were women, with median age of 59 years(ranged 50-70years). According to Durie-Salmon staging system, patients were grouped into:â… (n18,51.4%),â…¡(n7,20%),â…¢A(n8,22.8%),â…¢B(n2,5.8%) .The levels ofβ2-microglobulin was significant higher in the 10 Durie-Salmon stageâ…¢patients than in the 7 Durie-Salmon stageâ…¡patients(P<0.05).However,no significant difference was found between Durie-Salmon stageâ…¡patients and Durie-Salmon stageâ… patients. And the levels of C-reactive protein did not find significant difference among 3 groups. The correlation was shown between Durie-Salmon staging andβ2- mieroglobul, but not C-reactive protein. Conclusion: The levels ofβ2-microglobulin is closely associated with the development of multiple myeloma.High levels ofβ2-microglobulin is correlated to poor prognosis. |
