Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the hemodynamie changes of anterior ciliary artery(ACA) that may occur in the anterior sagement in normal and strabismus using color Doppler ultrasonography(CDI).Methods 22 patients were examined using color Doppler ltrasonography . The systolic maximum velocity (Vs) ,mean velocity (Vm) , end diastolic velocity (Vd) andpulsatility index( PI) , resistance index ( RI) of the anterior ciliary artery(ACA) were determined, measurements from normal subjects served as control data; in the same time, investigate the changes of anterior ciliary artery of 20 strabismus before surgery and after surgery; investigate the changes of anterior ciliary artery between the operation team with it remained in 10 cases, the routine operation team with it cut out in other 10 cases and the normal team respectively. Results There is a difference was observed preoperatively between the strabismus and control groups for eath hemodynamic parameter in ACA ( P < 0. 05) . There were no statistically significant differences in velocities or resistance in the anterior ciliary artery one month postoperatively (P>0.05). There is a difference was observed preoperatively between the strabismus with ACA remained and without ACA remained groups for eath hemodynamic parameter in ACA (P <0.05).Conclusion Surgery on both horizontal rectus muscles in one eye can cause hemodynamic changes in the ciliary artery. One horizontal rectus muscle operations do cause significant hemodynamic changes in the anterior ciliary artery one month ostoperatively ,but these changes in the anterior ciliary artery revive normal one month postoperatively. Color Doppler imaging is an useful tool in the investigation of hemodynamic alteration after interventions on anterior ocular segment that may cause ischemia in anterior ocular segment.
