| Objective To study the NF-κB and ICAM-1 secreted by peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs)in patients with OSAHS and to explore their relationship. Methods In this study peripheral blood was obtained in the morning from 30 male(age<55 years)patients with OSAHS(AHI>=10 event/h)and 30 male healthy subjects(AHI<5 event/h).Concentrations of monocyte production NF-κBand intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1)were measured by flow cytometry.10 patients of OSAHS were treated with continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP)1 month, and the concentrations of NF-κB and ICAM-I were also measured. Results The concentrations of p65 in the OSAHS group were significantly higher than in the control group((101.74±57.48)‰VS(16.13±8.03)‰;P<0.05).The concentrations of p65 in the OSAHS group were significantly higher than in the control group((435.53±67.14)‰VS (623.90±99.43)‰;p<0.05).There were significant differences between the mild, the moderate and the severe group in the level of NF-κB and ICAM-1 in PBMCs.In the OSAHS group were significantly correlated with time spent below an oxygen saturation of 90%(CT90),oxygen desturation indes of 4(ODI4)and apnea-hypopnea index(AHI)(NF-κB:r=0.73,r=0.567, r=0.803;ICAM-1:r=0.534,0.526,0.778 respectively). One month of CPAP resulted in a reduction in NF-κB and levels of ICAM-1 production in cultured monocytes. Conclusions NF-κB activation occurs with sleep-disordered breathing and may be an important upstream regulatory factor and promote the expression of ICAM-1.Such activation of NF-kappaB may contribute to the degree of OSAHS and the pathogenesis of hypertension in a certain extent. |
