Objective: To study on the therapeutic effects of the minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MPCNL) versus open surgery in the treatment of the simple stone of kidney, explore the value of open surgery on the view from evidence based medicine(EBM).Methods: Clinical application of minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MPCNL) in 107 cases and open surgery in 48 cases were analyzed. the clinical datum were retrospectively collected and compared, such as operative time, hospital stay and cost, stone clearance, eating fluidity food time, pain after operation, blood-loss during the operation, complications. All datum were performed by statistical analysis. Results: During the study period , 155 patients met the criteria. MPCNL group were 107 patients , open surgery group were 48 patients. No significant differences between the two groups were found in preoperative general state of health(such as age, case history, the stone size), hospital stay and eating fluidity food time(P>0.05).There is significant difference in the operative time, stone clearance, pain after operation and average medical treatment total costs between two groups(P<0.05).Conclusions: Advanced technology may not be the most appropriate treatment, and the value of open surgery should not be denied while MPCNL is widely used. Based on the EBM, open surgery is still the best choice for the patients with simple stone of kidey...
