| Objective: Fractures of the scaphoid are the most common carpal fractures, it constitute 2% of all the fractures. If not treated promptly, a scaphoid fracture may be compounded by non-union,avascular necrosis and osteoarthritis. An adequate management of scaphoid fractures requires fast and reliable diagnosis accoding to the early symptoms,physical sign and imaging examination. This manuscript provides the anatomy of the scaphoid bone, the diagnosis, classification, and treatment of acute scaphoid fractures. |
