Using LISS As Outside Fixed Devices Treatment For Tibial-fibular Fractures

Objective To inquire into the method using "AO" LISS(less invasive stabilization system)as outside fixed devices treatment for tibial and fibular fractures,introducing the clinical practice,the surgical method,the indication and the surgical tips.Methods From May 2006 to December 2007,we treated 38 cases of surgical tibial and fibular fractures by using LISS as outside fixed devices.The recovering training program should be proceeded individually based on each specific and personality.Results All the patients were followed up for 5 to 13 months,averaging 8 months.All the patients were dissection alignment or function alignment without plate loosening,fracture nonunion or delayed union. The fracture healing time were 3 to 5 months,averaging 4 months. According to the "AO" method,the functions of tibial and fibular were excellent in 34 cases,and good in 4 cases,the good- excellent good-Excellent rate in 100%.Conclusion(1) "AO" LESS locks itself a unique structure,has a strong Angle stabilization and the anchoring force and anti-extraction force, through using the external fixation technology to maximize the protecttion of the bone and periphery the soft tissue blood circulation,enhanced its curative effect.(2)The technology has indications of widespread, without special taboo.(3) Through the rational use of the locking plate external fixation(Note the distance between plate and bone,the number of screws and nails into the position and direction,double cortex screw fixation,etc.),it can give full play to their own biomechanical potential to enhance the plate stiffness.(4)Reliable effect can be achieved for fracture of tibial and fibular teated with LISS,it allows early functional exercises after operation.This is helpful to the wound extremity joint function rstoration.Therefore,this procedure have many advantages,for example less invasive,simple,reliable fixed, fracture healing quickly,allowing the early part of weight-bearing exercise functions,conducing to restore physical function,it is a worthy promote the safety,summary,effect of reliable technology.
