Objective: To measure the number of glucocorticoid receptor on human peripheral blood lymphocytes during different age and study the role of glucocorticoid receptor in the glucocorticoid-induced glaucoma. Methods: We divided all patients which include glucocorticoid-induced glaucoma patients and non-GIG patients into three groups:①≤15 ages;②15~35 ages(include 35 ages);③>35 ages and measured the glucocorticoid receptor number in peripheral blood lymphocytes of each groups by using the radio-ligand binding assay. Results: 1. Non-GIG patients:①the number of GR was 7206±490sites/cell;②the number of GR was 7691±350sites/cell;③the number of GR was 5210±750sites/cell. 2. GIG patients:①the number of GR was 13045±890sites/cell;②the number of GR was 12863±750sites/cell;③the number of GR was 9647±630sites/cell.Conclusions: The glucocorticoid receptor number in peripheral blood lymphocytes was obviously correlated with age. The glucocorticoid receptor play a very important role in the glucocorticoid-induced glaucoma.
