Methods:Clinical character, endoscopic classification and pathological character were assessed in 184 BE patients diagnosed by endoscopy.Results:⑴most patients had typical symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux diseases (GERD); 37 patients had no symptoms.⑵Endoscopic classification included lamellar 128 cases, circumferential 43 cases and tongues 13 cases.⑶Columnar epithelium metaplasia were confirmed in 88 cases by the histopathology, intestinal metaplasia were confirmed in 46 of 88 cases and dysplasia in one case.⑷There are siginificantly difference in clinical manifestation of sour regurgitation between patients with or without columnar epithelium metaplasia, but no difference in clinical manifestation among patients with three different endoscopic classification..Conclusion:⑴There are siginificantly difference in clinical manifestation of sour regurgitation between patients with or without columnar epithelium metaplasia. Clinical manifestations are important for the diagnosis of BE.⑵There are no siginificantly difference in clinical manifestation among three different endoscopic classification.⑶Columnar epithelium metaplasia and intestinal metaplasia can occure in three types of endoscopic classification, Multi-point biopsy is necessary for diagnosis of BE.Part II Correlation between Quality of Life and Symptoms in the patients with Barrett EsophagusObjective:To investigate quality of life in patients with Barrett Esophagus (BE), And its relationship with symptoms.Methods:100 healthy subjects(HS), 134 patients with reflux esophagitis (RE) and 86 BE patients were included in this study .All subjects completed Short Form 36 Health survey Questionnaire(SF-36) and the symptoms were assessed. Results:Except the social functioning aspect (p=0.349), other healthy conceptions of life quality had significantly different among HS, BE, RE(P< 0.05.). Compared with HS, the score of life quality significantly decreased in patients with RE and BE. The scores of physiological functioning(P=0.000),Role-Physical and bodily pain (P=0.014)significantly decreased in BE patients compared with RE patients, but there were no difference in the score of psychological health(P=0.071)and general health(P=0.467) between BE and RE patients. There were negative correlation between life quality scores and symptoms score.Conclusions:⑴The quality of life decreases in both RE patients and BE patienets. It gets worse in BE patients⑵Symptoms are major factors that affect life quality in BE aptients, but the regurgitation is not the main factor . | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Barrett Esophagus, columnar epithelium intestinal, intestinal metaplasia, BE, quatity of life, RE, SF-36 | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
