| Body composition, an important factor affecting human health, could provide the normal range of the body component value. Making use of the value range, researchers evaluate the process of growth, development, maturation and aging of human body, as well as furthering studies on nutritional status and relevant diseases. Bio-Impedance Analysis (BIA), a newly-developed technology since 20 years ago, could measure the body fat content, on the basis of different bio-impedance properties between fat mass (FM) and fat free mass (FFM). With the help of electrodes attached to body surface, a weak alternate current is injected into the measured body and information about impedance could be collected. BIA easily appeals to the majority of population, for its advantages in security, swiftness and costs. In this paper, a trunk-subdivision model that could avoid the shortcomings of the whole body BIA method is established to improve the method of segmental Bio-Impedance Analysis (SBIA) in measuring body composition. In this research, a measurement system is set up to compare the measured results with the accurate data collected by multi-slice spiral CT. Furthermore, calibration and correction of the predictive formula are accomplished. In this paper, network analysis on the basis of SBIA is adopted to decompose the distribution of body impedance and a model named trunk-subdivision segmental body composition analysis has been initially set up, which could distinguish different impedance value between upper and lower abdominal. As a result, node data could be obtained by changing the mode of measurement, while impedance data discussed above could be extracted via empirical formula. Meanwhile, for the sake of analyzing body composition, the measurement system is built, of which priority is given to measure just the body impedance. The system ,with fixed detection electrodes and single frequency , could provide impedance data about upper and lower limbs, abdominal, even the whole body .According to the experimental results, a statistical analysis is carried out and calculation formula is constructed. With the reference data from multi-slice spiral CT, calibration and correction is taken. Finally, comparison-research between BMI, whole body BIA and SBIA are made to perfect the whole study. |
