Method: 112 outpatients were collected , and classified by the differences of symptoms and signs into flaming up of the liver-fire, retention of phlegmatic dampness, excessive rising of liver-YANG, deficiency of both kidney-Yin and kidney-Yang and depression of liver-QI. Subsequently, their intake of salt and the salt sensitivity was checked. Results: The result is that the cases of the flaming up of the liver-fire and retention of phlegmatic dampness are more in the hypertensive that are salt sensitivity and overintaking of salt. However, there are no differences about the pathogenesis of Traditional Chinese Medicine between the hypertensive that are only salt sensitivity but no overintaking of salt and the nonsalt-sensitive. Conclusions: The salt is cold-natured, but it also contains the hot-natured in the same time. Thus, if the intake of salt is overfull, it will lead to heat syndrome. The overintaking of salt is an important factor of hypertension by leading to flaming up of the liver-fire, retention of phlegmatic dampness. |
