Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of extraceullar adenosine triphosphate(ATP) injected into cavitas subarachnoidealis during ischemia on spinal cord injury following ischemia-reperfusion.Methods 78 rats were sparated into three groups randemly:ATP group (n=36),normal saline group(n=36),control group(n=6),The spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion model was made and the injury degree of spinal cord was evaluated by footprint pattern test and histopathology, the opoptosis of neuron were evaluated by TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeing. Results The motion function of spinal cord was improved significantly after treatment of ATP,ATP attenuated the neuron injury after spinal cord ischemic-reperfusion and the number of apoptosis of the anterior horn cells of spinal cord in the ATP group was decreased compare with control group. Conclusion The motion function and opoptosis expression after spinal cord injury resulted from ischemia-reperfusion are attenuated significantly after treatment of ATP.
