Objective:To study the influence of dental Pd-Ag alloy on the image of MR.Materials and Methods:4 posts and cores,2 metal crowns and 2 porcelain fused to metal crowns were selected randomly from incisor to second molar.Samples were fixed on the skin of one volunteer's right abdomen with plaster, and underwent MRI scanning.4 pulse sequences (SSFSE;FRFSE;GRE;DWI) were applied in order to observe the influence of Pd-Ag alloy on MR images. And then 2 volunteers were selected who had more than 10 fixed restorations of Pd-Ag alloy.Another 4 pulse sequences(T1Flair;FSE;GRE;DWI) were applied in order to observe the influence of Pd-Ag alloy on craniocerebral MR images. Results:In the field of 1.5 T,Pd-Ag alloy had no significant artifacts on MRI images, and didn't affect the image of MR.In the field of 3.0 T,a slight artifact around those teeth in study. No significant artifacts were seen in the brain and jaw's MR images.Conclusions:1.Pd-Ag alloy has no thermal effect and projectile effect on MRI.Patients wearing some Pd-Ag alloy fixed prostheses can take magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).2.Pd-Ag alloy has no significant artifacts on MRI images.Artifacts are just found around the prostheses, and do not affect the imaging of the surrounding structures and organs.3.We suggest that the patients with Pd-Ag alloy fixed prostheses make full use of a low magnetic field, and that they avoid using of GRE sequences when they take MRI.
