After several thousand years of development, the type of soup and diet increased unceasingly, displays its functions of strengthening body, protecting the beauty from fading, prolonging the life, and even treating all kinds of diseases, solving each kind of healthy problems, serving for humanity' s health.Soup and diet culture is especially popular in Lingnan area. In Hong Kong, the development of soup culture is prosperous. Before Hong Kong became a colony, it was subordinated by Guangzhou, it had inherited the soup and diet culture of Guangdong province, the people here generally accepted drinking soup to keep the health; after becoming a colony, Guangdong soup and diet cultre combined with western-style soup, thus formed the unique Hong Kong-style soup meals. Now, drinking soup has become an important part of daily diet of Hong Kong people.However, the soup and diet nutritional therapy originated from the Chinese nutritional therapy culture, it needs the instruction of Chinese medicine theory. The blending, applying of soup and diet needs the instruction of Chinese medicine theory, must consider the smell and functions of medicine and food, meanwhile, the symdrome differentiation, the union geographical environment, the season and individual physical condition and so on, thus can choose appropriately, which can be advantageous to health. Because the lacking of Chinese medicine theory and health care knowledge, Hong Kong' s soup and diet culture development existed some confusion. For example, the understanding fuzziness to the smell and functiond of nutritional therapy material, ignorance of own physique, condition of diseases, all these affected the effect of health care of soupand diet. Also, if we use soup and diet improperly, it will affect human body' s health, even play the opposite role. Therefore, in view of the special development process and the region characteristic of Hong Kong soup and diet, the application of Chinese medicine theory of health care in the nutritional therapy study of Hongkong appears important and is essential. Only by combing the developing source and course of soup and diet, can we better instructing people' s daily nutritional therapy serving for people' s health.The paper analyzed the origion, characteristics, types and modern process research of Chinese soup and diet culture, by collecting, analyzing the formulas, the folk prescription, the proven prescription as well as collecting the formulas in shops, the restaurants of soup and diet of Hongkong, and unifies Hong Kong' s region characteristics, the paper discusses deeply the important function of soup and diet in health care, Analyzes the characteristics of soup and diet in Hong Kong, all these research are for the purpose of carrying forward the soup and diet culture of Hong Kong area , its thought connotation and the. thought of traditional Chinese dietary therapy.In the process of collecting the formulas of soup and diet, the author discovered that most Chinese medicine doctors of Hong Kong have their own formulas of soup and diet, which originated from the folk or by themselves, or formed on the basis of syndrome differentiation, all these formulas play important roles in treating with diseases; In big restaurants, even the small tea dining room, they have various types of soup and diet to supply, which take them a lot of care in the process forming; What is especially valuable is that they start to supply soup and diet on the basis of person' s individual physique conditon, this is the progress of dietary therapy of traditional Chinese. Hong Kong's nutritional therapy of soup and diet developed on the basis of traditional Guangdong style, simultaneously, it has blended the essence of western nutritional therapy, during its developing, it grew manynew and effective formulas, which did good in the treating of diseases, people' s health care in Hongkong. At present, the most important thing in the development of nutritional therapy of soup and diet is to popularize the medical principles of nutritional therapy of soup and diet and to improve its scientific characteristics.The research of nutritional therapy of soup and diet in preventing and treating diseases emerged one after another incessantly, but independent research is not enough.
