Objective:To investigate the prevalence of Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome in Shanxi Province, and screen its impact factors to provide the basis for prevention and treatment work in our province and make recommendations. Methods:By Cross-sectional study and case-control study to investigate the three cities and countries in our province such as Taiyuan,Shenchi and Wuzhai, including 11 neighborhoods over the age of 20 a total of 3586 people crowd. The survey includes a questionnaire survey, physical examination and related determination of metabolic indicators, such as blood glucose, blood lipids and so on.The data line will be analyzed by Chi-square test,Multiple regression analysis and Logistic regression analysis to screen the related factors of Diabetes and Metabolic syndrome.Results:(1) The Diabetes prevalence rate for more than 20-year-old crowd is about 6.3%,Metabolic syndrome prevalence rate of about 3.4%in Shanxi Province.(2) Analysis of risk factors for Diabetes:fasting blood glucose to be variables for multiple regression analysis showed that waist-hip ratio, triglyceride, body mass index, age, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, such as six factors significantly correlated with diabetes, after inspection,F = 74.78,p<0.001.From the standardized partial regression coefficient can be seen on the effect of fasting blood glucose descending order of the factors are age, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, waist-hip ratio, triglyceride, body mass index.Logistic regression analysis of many factors results showed that:age,WHR,SBP,DM family history,TG,such as five factors and prevalence rate of DM have significant correlation. To one of TG on the risk of DM occurrence of the largest,OR values for 4.233,95.0%CI values for 3.125-6.453, suggesting that TG is higher than normal,DM sick TG possibilities are 4.233 times than the normal persons.Followed by the DM family history,OR values for 3.119,95.0%CI is 2.574-7.327;WHR,OR is 2.763,95.0%CI is 1.324-5.359;age,OR is 1.536,95.0%CI is 1.011-2.507;SBP,OR is 1.456,95.0%CI is 1.346-1.909.(3) The impact factors of metabolic syndrome Logistic regression analysis showed that:age(OR = 1.362,95.%CI is 1.036-2.158),DM family history(OR = 2.749,95.%CI is 2.164-5.274),alcohol(OR = 1.382,95.%CI is 1.374-1.995),physical activity(OR=0.275,95.%CI is 0.116-0.371) and other four factors and prevalence rate of MS have significant correlation. One of age,DM family history, alcohol use for MS risk factors(OR> 1),physical activity for the MS of the protective factors(OR <1).Conclusions:(1)The Diabetes prevalence rate(6.3%) in Shanxi is higher than the national average in 2008(11%),Metabolic syndrome prevalence rate(3.4%) lower than the national average in 2009(13.9%),and the middle-aged and the elderly are the main objects for the prevention of DM and MS.(2) Living habits as smoking, drinking, eating habits, physical activity, physical condition as obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, impaired glucose tolerance, the survival of conditions as education, living conditions, occupation type and other factors are related with Diabetes and Metabolic syndrome. The greater impact factors on DM:age,WHR,SBP,DM family history,TG,5 factors are risk factors. For MS influential factors were:age,DM family history, alcohol consumption, physical activity. One of:age,DM family history, alcohol consumption for the risk factors, protective factors for physical activity.Advice:Health care government departments should actively carry out public health education, promote a healthy lifestyle intervention to improve the crowd, reduce the prevalence rate of Metabolic syndrome and Diabetes essentially.
