Objective:1.To investigate the status of personality traits,social support,coping style and comprehensive health of burn patients in hospital;2.To analyze the influential factors of social support,coping style and comprehensive health of burn patients in hospital;3.To explore the relationships between Socio-demographic characteristics,burn status, personality traits,social support,coping style and comprehensive health.4.To raise relevant advice according to the results.Methods:The cross-sectional study was conducted on 101 adult(≥16years)burn patients in burn center of one provincial gengeral tertiary hospital with Leval A from February 2008 to October 2008 who were investigated face to face by means of the questionnaire such as General Information Questionnaire,the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire,the Social Support Rating Scale,the Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire and the Abbreviated Burn-Specific Health Scale.Epidata 3.1 was used to establish databases,and entered and checked data by two workers and analyzed data by SPSS11.5.Results:1.The total score of social support of burn patients[(42.72±6.66) points]had significantly higher than the normal[(34.56±3.73) points];87.10%of patients had medium and above level of social support.The score indicator of total social support was 65.72%,among the 3dimensions,the hightest score indicator was subjective support(77.44%),next was objective support(51.29%)and the lowest was the utilization of support(19.08%).By multiple linear regression,the influence factors of objective support were:the size of the total full-thickness injury,marital status,the size of head-facial-neck burn,extroversion and avoidance;the influence factors of subjective support were:marital status,confrontation and avoidance;the influence factors of the utilization of support were:the size of head-facial-neck burn,possible sequelae and extroversion;the influence factors of the social support were:the size of the total full-thickness injury,marital status,the size of burn,confrontation and avoidance.2.The score of confrontation of burn patients[(18.46±3.41)points]had significantly higher than the normal[(19.48±3.81)points];the score of resignation and avoidance were(8.55±3.26)points and(14.49±2.54)points,there was no significant difference compare to the normal[(8.81±3.17)points and(14.44±2.97)points].The score indicator sorted by descending were:avoidance(72.45%),confrontation(57.69%),resignation (30.54%).By multiple linear regression,the influence factors of confrontation were: age,extroversion and social support;the influence factors of resignation were:the depth of burn,the size of burn,extroversion,hiding and social support;the influence factors of avoidance was social support.3.The score of physical function,psychological function,social function,general health and comprehensive health were(56.87±16.43) points,(96.73±18.52) points, (53.05±7.60) points,(44.68±11.23) points and(314.06±55.21) points.The score indicator of comprehensive health was 78.52%,it showed that the level of comprehensive health among burn patients were between moderate and high level.Among 4 dimensions,the score indicator sorted by descending were:social function(88.42%),psychologicial function(80.61%),general health(74.47%) and physicial function(71.09%).By multiple linear regression,the influence factors of comprehensive health were:monthly income,the size of burn,the times of operation,extroversion,hiding,the utilization of support,social support and resignation.4.The results of pathway analysis showed that extroversion,the size of burn,the utilization of support,hiding,resignation,social support,the times of operations, monthly income had direct impact on comprehensive health;extroversion and age had indirect impact on comprehensive health by confrontation and social support;marital status,the size of burn,the size of the total full-thickness injury and avoidance had indirect impact on comprehensive health by social support;the size of head-facial-neck burn,the possible sequelae,extroversion had indirect impact on comprehensive health by the utilization of support;the size of burn,the depth of burn,extroversion,hiding and social support had indirect impact on comprehensive health by resignation.5.The total influence of comprehensive health of burn patients sorted by descending were extroversion,the size of burn,the utilization of support,hiding,resignation,social support,the times of operation,monthly income,the possible sequelae,marital status,the size of the total full-thickness injury,confrontation,the size of head-facial-neck burn,the depth of burn,avoidance,age.Conclusion:1.Most of patients' social support was between middle and higher level.The social support of burn patients were influenced by the size of burn,the size of the total full-thickness injury,the size of head-facial-neck burn,marital status,the possible sequlae,extroversion,confrontation and avoidance.2.Burn patients use less confrontation.The coping style of burn patients were influenced by age,the size of burn,the depth of burn,extroversion,hiding and social support.3.There was interaction between social support and coping style.Coping style influenced the level of social support;social support influenced the coping style.4.Social support and coping style were mediating factors between burn characteristic,personality and burn outcome.5.The total influence of comprehensive health of burn patients sorted by descending were extroversion,the size of burn,the utilization of support,hiding,resignation,social support,times of operation,the times of operation,monthly income,possible sequelae,marital status,the size of the total full-thickness injury,confrontation,the size of head-facial-neck burn,the depth of burn,avoidance,age.
