Objective To investigate the fatigue properties of Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement specimens loaded with different concentration of Alendronate Sodium Tablets, as well as the influence of the PBS on them. Methods Different kinds of specimens were respectively performed and grouped into 8 groups, which were controlled(0:1000), 1:1000, 5:1000, 10:1000, according to the different concentration of Alendronate Sodium Tablets in bone cement, and to whether or not in PBS for 30 days. Then we measured all the fatigue life of the specimens according to the ASTM F2118-0a. We used factorial design in our experiment, and multi-factor analysis of variance to treat the data. P<0.05 was considered to be statistical significant. Results We removed the data less than 5000, and used multi-factor analysis of variance to deal with the remaining. It showed that the drug concentration and the immersion in PBS had no significant statistical significance on bone cement fatigue properties. (P> 0.05).Conclusion Three concentrations of Fosamax on the fatigue properties of bone cement had no significant influence; 30 days of PBS immersion had no significant influence on the fatigue properties of bone cement.
