| The annual incidence of sudden cardiac death(SCD) in the general population is estimated as 1 in 1,000.Some of whom suffering from it is the young.Many of the causes of sudden cardiac death in the young are due to genetic heart disorders, monogenic disorders are as the dominant causes in the young,which can lead to inherited arrhythmia syndromes,such as long QT,short QT,Brugada syndromes and so on.Most commonly,sudden cardiac death in the young can be the first presentation of an underlying heart problem,post-mortem examination fails to identify a cause,which leaving the family at a loss as to why an otherwise healthy young person has died.Not only is this a tragic event for those involved,but it also presents a medical challenge to the clinician involved in the management of the surviving family members.The advent of effective therapies for these diseases,particularly implantable cardioverter defibrillators,has prompted calls for universal screening to enable timely diagnosis of occult cardiac disease.This article is a case report of familial sudden cardiac death, introduces the processure of diagnosis and treatment briefly,discusses the possible etiopathogenisis of the special family,which the members have been died in 28.5 years old on average and all of them are male. |
