| Background:Amino acids infusion has been proved to be effective on prevention of perioperative hypothermia.There still remain questions on the adverse reaction in diabetic patients.To investigate the effect of amino acid infusion on blood glucose, diabetic patients under combined epidural and general anesthesia for abdominal surgery were studied.Method:12 diabetic patients scheduled for abdominal surgery were recruited in the study,and 12 patients for control,both undergoing a mixture of 18-amino acids infusion from the beginning of anesthesia to the end of operation,at 2ml/kg/h (2kJ/kg/h) respectively.Body temperature and blood glucose were measured at 6 time points:30 min before anesthesia,just before the beginning of operation,30 min in operation,2 h in operation,30 min after operation and lh after operation.Results:1.Differences in gender,age,height,weight,operative methods,and surgery and anesthesia duration were not significant among the groups(P>0.05).Body temperature measured 30min before anesthesia did not differ significantly among the groups(P>0.05).In group A,the blood glucose measured 30min before anesthesia was 5.28±1.24mmol/L,in group B the data was 8.97±2.69mmol/L, it was significantly higher than group A(P=0.001,P<0.01).2.Body temperatures in two groups were both decreased after anesthesia.However, the variance between body temperature at each time point after anesthesia and 30min before anesthesia did not differ significantly among the groups(P>0.05).3.Blood glucose increased after the beginning of surgery in two groups.While in group A,increase occurred just at 30min after operation and lh after operation (P<0.01).In group B,increase occurred at 2h in operation and 30min after operation and 1h after operation(P<0.01).The variance between blood glucose at each time points after anesthesia and 30min before anesthesia at 2h in operation differed significantly with group A and B(P=0.026,0.01<P<0.05).4.The incidence of post-operative shivering of the two groups were not differ significantly(P>0.05).5.Urinary volume of the two groups were not differ significantly(P>0.05). Conclusion:Compared with non-diabetic ones,although the blood glucose of diabetic patients may be suffered from an earlier elevation after intravenous supply of amino acids,it was still among the safe range. |
