Objective To investigate the relevance of chronic hepatitis C patients in southern Anhui Province with serum ALT levels, the quantity of HCV RNA and HCV genotypes, and to understand their genotype distribution. A value monitoring index will be offered for effective clinical treatment. Methods The rate method and fluorescence quantitative PCR method were used to detect 141 cases of chronic hepatitis C patients in southern Anhui Province with serum levels of ALT and HCV RNA, respectively. To apply reverse transcriptase PCR and type-specific primers on 50 cases of high-carrying HCV RNA specimens for genotyping. Results Use of Spearman rank correlation analysis to analyze correlation between serum ALT levels and the quantity of HCV RNA, rs = 0.213, P = 0.011 <0.05. There exists a statistical significance and positive correlation between each other. Among 50 samples, 45 cases (95.7 percent) of HCV genotypes were type 1, 2 cases (4.3 percent) of HCV genotype were type 2, 3 cases were not undertaked genotyping.Anti-virus treatment of HCV genotype 1 was poor, while that of genotype 2 was better. And we found that,in this region, the amplified sequence all have a gene Polymorphism of C160A and G199A. Conclusion The dominant type of chronic hepatitis C patients in southern Anhui Province is genetype 1. ALT levels, HCV RNA and genotype are a reliable and important indicator for clinical treatment.
