Objective: To investigate the prevalence of congenital syphilis, clinical characteristics, diagnosis ,treatment and prevention.Methods: Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University in 1999 and 2008 after years of clinical, serological diagnosis of syphilis in 105 cases of congenital syphilis in children, their clinical data were studied retrospectively. The use of EXCEL software, SAS8.0 statistical software for statistical analysis.Results: (1) From 1999 to 2008 the number of cases each year were admitted to hospital 0,0,2,4,7,5,13,19,34,21.(2) In 105 cases, 104 cases of early congenital syphilis, accounting for 99.0%, one cases of late congenital syphilis. Accounted for 57 cases of newborns (54.3%), which accounted for 21 cases of premature infants (20%), low birth weight babies accounted for 26 cases (24.8%); in March accounted for less than 95 cases (90.5%). Children of mothers who give birth before the diagnosis of 36 cases of syphilis (34.3%), only seven cases of penicillin to treatment, three cases of treatment for four weeks, more than four cases of a specific course of treatment is unknown. Father has a history of syphilis and the "sexual history" in 23 cases, parents who are 12 cases of syphilis.(3) The most common clinical manifestations of liver enlargement, skin lesions, lung involvement, bone involvement, and jaundice, the number of its cases (the ratio) were 84 cases (80%), 67 cases (63.8%), 66 cases of (62.9%), 38 cases (36.2%), 38 cases (36.2%); Splenomegaly, edema, heart murmur and nervous system involvement is relatively rare, 37 cases (35.2%), 21 cases (20%), 21 cases (20%), six cases (5.7%). Two or more than two organ system involvement was 67 cases.(4) Children with 105 cases of syphilis antibody test (RPR) were positive, 83 were positive for a routine check TPPA, in 62 cases of TRUST examination, titers ranged from 1:2 to 1:320 and 1:32 most common (29 cases), 6 cases were negative. RPR + TPPA which 83 cases were positive, RPR + TPPA + TRUST three of 56 cases were positive.75 cases (71.4%) impaired liver function, 53 cases (50.5%) involved blood system performance for 38 cases of anemia (36.2%), thrombocytopenia in 21 cases (20%), increased interleukin 53 (50.5%) cases, 1 case lower.(5) 105 cases of children with length of stay in hospital eight hours ~ 25 days (M: 10 days), six cases of a variety of reasons not to penicillin treatment; be 99 cases of penicillin treatment, 50 cases of clinical symptoms and signs completely disappeared, 36 cases of clinical symptoms and signs improved, 13 cases of clinical symptoms and signs improved or not to give up treatment due to various reasons.Conclusion: 1. Epidemiologic features: the incidence of congenital syphilis in the past 10 years (1999 ~ 2008) showed an upward trend year after year, during which a small margin in 2005 reduced; in 2008 the incidence of syphilis has decreased, it remains high.2. Clinical features: congenital syphilis for the early patients, 3 months or less, especially newborn babies found at birth can be manifested as low birth weight premature. A variety of clinical manifestations of congenital syphilis, common hepatomegaly, skin lesions, blood system and the skeletal system involvement, a handful of the nervous system, urinary system and eye involvement, severe multiple organ dysfunction can failure to die.3. Diagnosis of congenital syphilis in children with the epidemic history, clinical manifestations, syphilis serological examination and X-ray examination to make a comprehensive analysis. Penicillin is still effective treatment for drugs; the majority of short-term prognosis is good after treatment.4. Prevention: pre-conventional detection of syphilis, the formal treatment of syphilis in pregnant women can reduce the incidence of congenital syphilis, congenital syphilis is the most effective preventive measures.
