Objective: To compare the curative effect of exercise rehabilitation in the fractures of the elbow. To analyze the factors influencing the curative effect on different types of the fracture. Methods: Two hundred and twenty-one patients who underwent fracture of the elbow were included. Including 152 patients of the fracture distal end of humerus, 46 patients of fracture of olecranon process of ulna, 15 patients of fracture of coronoid process of ulna, 8 patients of fracture of capitulum radius. They were divided into two groups, using individual exercise rehabilitation. Mayo scores of elbow function and ROM were recorded. Results: There were significant difference of Mayo scores of elbow function and ROM at 1 month after operation and 3 months in the two groups(P<0.05), especially in fracture distal end of humerus and olecranon process of ulna. There were significant difference of Mayo scores of elbow function and ROM in ORIF and external fixation of humeral supracondylar fracture(P<0.05).Only two patients occured myositis ossificans in the control group. Conclusion: Early stage exercise rehabilitation in the fractures of the elbow joint could prevent muscle atrophy and adhesion and facilitate function restoration. It also decreases the course of treatment, the suffering. Classification of fracture, fixing degree, swelling of limb were correlated with elbow joint rehabilitation and were important for curative effect. Reasonable security evaluation before exercise will conduce to curative effect of exercise rehabilitation. |
