Objective:To investigate the expression of 5-lipoxygenase(5-LOX) in endometriosis and to analyze the relationship 5-LOX on angionesis in endometriosis.Methods:Immunochemical method was used to determine the expression of 5-LOX,VEGF and the numerus of MVD in ectopic endometrium(ectopic group) and eutopic endometrium(eutopic group) of 32 patients with EMs and in eutopic endometrium(control group) of 25 patients without EMs.Rusuits:(1)The expression of 5-LOX,VEGF and the numerus of MVD in ectopic groups was 0.43±0.09,0.39±0.07 and 0.40±0.09 respectively,which was significant higher than that of eutopic group and control group.The expression of 5-LOX,VEGF and the numerus of MVD in eutopic group was 0.35±0.08,0.30±0.06 and 0.33±0.08 respectively,which was significant higher than that of control group (P<0.05).(2)In ectopic groups the expression of 5-LOX,VEFD and the numerus of MVD in stageâ…¢/â…£was 0.46±0.08,0.42±0.06,0.44±0.08 respectively,which was much higher than that of stageâ… /â…¡(P<0.05);the expression of 5-LOX,VEGF and the numerus of MVD.was correlated to the severe of endometriosis through Spearman correlation(r was 0.537,0.570 and 0.610 respectively).(3)In ectopic groups the expression of 5-LOX was shown to be significantly correlated to the expression of VEGF and the numerus of MVD(r was 0.724 and 0.686 respectively, P<0.05);In eutopic groups the expression of 5-LOX was also shown to be significantly correlated to the expression of VEGF and the numerus of MVD(r was 0.534 and 0.404 respectively,P<0.05).Conclusion:1 There is a higher expression of 5-LOX in endometriosis,which suggests 5-LOX may be participate in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.2 The more severe of endometriosis the higher expression of 5-LOX,VEGF and the numerus of MVD.3 The expression of 5-LOX was shown to be significantly correlated to the expression of VEGF and the numerus of MVD in ectopic and eutopic endometrium of EMs,which suggests 5-LOX may be promote angionesis of EMs through uping-regulation the expression of VEGF.
