To study the function of cough and of anti-inflammation the extracts from flowers of Eriobotrya japonica(T.hunb.) Lindl.by five kinds of different solvent.Explore the relation between effective constituents' content and pharmacodynamic.In this paper,with the cough models induced by ammonia in mice and citric acid in guinea-pig to observe the function of cough from the extracts from flowers of Eriobotrya japonica(Thunb.) Lindl..With three different the anti-inflammation models by dimethylbenzene-induced ear swollen,celiac capillary permeation induced by acetic and cotten-pellet granuloma in mice to observe the function of anti-inflammation from the extracts from flowers of Eriobotrya japonica(Thunb.) Lindl.With spectrophotometry and HPLC to determine effective components content in each extract.Results:Compared with the blank control group,the high and middle doses of 95%alcohol extracts and mix extracts and the high dose of 50%alcohol extract and aqueous extract from flowers of Eriobotrya japonica(Thunb.) Lindl.have obviously cough function in mice and guinea-pig.Their effects do correspond with positive control group.High and middle doses of 75%alcohol extracts and low doses of each extract have not obvious cough function.High dose of each extracts from loquat flower have obviously inhibitory action on three different anti-inflammation models.Their effects have very significant or significant difference compared with the blank control group and do correspond with positive control group.Middle dose of each extracts have obviously inhibitory action on dimethylbenzene-induced ear swollen in mice.Middle dose of 95%alcohol extract,50%alcohol extract and mix extract from loquat flower have obviously inhibitory action on celiac capillary permeation induced by acetic and cotten-pellet granuloma in mice.Low dose of each extracts from loquat flower but 95%alcohol extract have no obviously inhibitory action on three different anti-inflammation models.Contents of total flavanoid from loquat flower extracts:50%alcohol extract>aqueous extract>75%alcohol extract>mix extract>95%alcohol extract.Contents of OA and UA:95%alcohol extract>mix extract>75%alcohol extract>50%alcohol extract,OA and UA were not detected in aqueous extract.In above,conclusion:The 95%alcohol extracts and mix extracts from flowers of Eriobotrya japonica(Thunb.) Lindl.have obviously cough function,50% alcohol extracts and aqueous extracts have definite cough function,75%alcohol extracts have not obvious cough function.The 95%alcohol extracts from loquat flower have best inhibitory effect on inflammatory.50%ethanol extract and the mixed extract was followed.75%ethanol extract and aqueous extracts' inhibitory action were week.So triterpenoids have obvious cough and anti-inflammation function,total flavanoid has a certain remedy for cough and anti-inflammation in possible.
