It is indicated that Professor Zhou Zhongying have accumulated rich experience in the process of treating Bronchial Asthma. It has great important significance to summarize his academic thoughts and therapeutic characteristics, and to explore the method of inheriting famous veteran teran doctors of tcm's academic thoughts of treating intractable diseases. In part 1, literature summarize for ancient china system reviews physician knowledge about all aspects of Bronchial Asthma in the history. The ancient Chinese medicine doctor developed, deeped and enriched on the foundation of Canon of internal medicine and Treatise on Febrile Diseases, by the clinical practice, and have recognized of etiology and pathogenesis and Syndrome characteristic of Bronchial Asthma. At the same time, they have began differential classification and treatment. All this provide valuable experience for differentiation treatment of Bronchial Asthma on later ages.In part 2, the clinical experiences of Professor Zhou in treating Bronchial Asthma will be introduced clearly, which can be divided into six parts—the etiology and pathogenesis, keypoints of syndrome differentiation, different syndromes, principles of treatment, commonly used Chinese herb drugs and clinnical features.A poor constitution and retained phlegm are the essence of etiology, and we raised a viewpoint that "wind-phlegm is the source". The wind-phlegm was induced by exogenous evil, then the phlegm ascended with Qi and caused Qi stagnation, the retention of phlegm and Qi stagnation block the airway, and hinder lung Qi from ascending and descending. The keypoints of syndrome differentiation mainly include the stage, main symptom, pathological nature, pathological factors, location of disease and the prognosis. And ten commonly encountered syndrome types and syndrome manifestations were summarized and discussed briefly. In aspect of principles of treatment, we summarized Pro.Zhou's experiences on this disease from the typical clinical case, and we considered that depressing qi to antiasthma, dispelling wind-evil and dissipating phlegm are the foudamental method of treatment in period of onset, and tonifing lung and kidneny, dispelling wind-evil and dissipating phlegm are the foudamental method of treatment in remission stage. Many experiences were summarized in using Chinese herb drugs such as ma-huang, she-gan, ban-xia, zi-wan, kuan-dong-hua, wind dispelling agent, reinforcing agent and so on..The last one is the clinical features, we emphasised relativity of symptomatic therapy and radical therapy, dispelling wind-evil and dissipating phlegm are the basic therapy in every stage of the disease. We also pointed out the effect of wind dispelling and antianaphylaxis agent and the status of stagnated blood in the course of therapy. We discussed the essence of etiology and pathogenesis, characteristic of syndrome differentiation ,study of pharmacology further on basis of ancient literature combined with the research methods of mordern medicine in part 3,and then improve the curative effect.Although progress were obtained, there are many problems to be resolve in prevention and treatment of Bronchial Asthma. We pointed out the development thought and direction at the end of the article.
