Ephedra sinica Stapf.,distributed mainly in the northeast and northwest of China,has been used as a Chinese folk medicine for a long time,and its stems have been used to treat rheum,asthma,edema and cough with dyspnea.It also provides extracts used in folk medicine as depurative,hypotensive,antiasthmatic,sympathomimetic and astringent agents.In order to investigate the active constituents,the stems of E.sinica was subjected to detailed phytochemical studies.A new alkaloids,(±)-1-phenyl-2-imido-1-propanol(6),A new naphthalene derivative,1-methyl-2,3-methylenedioxy-6-naphthalenecarboxylic acid methyl ester(25), and one new carboxylic acid derivative,5-(hydroxy-isopropyl)-cyclohexenecarboxylic acid(26),together with twenty-five known compounds,namely,Ephedroxane(1), 1-Ephedrine(2),d-Pseudoephedrine(3),N-Methylephedrine(4),6-Methoxykynurenic acid(5),Vitexin(7),Quercrtin(8),Rutin(9),Herbacetin 8-methyl ether 3-glucoside(10), Luteolin(11),Kaempferol(12),Kaempferol 3-glucoside 7-rhamnoside(13),Hesperidin (14),Benzoic acide(15),trans-Cinnamic acid(16),Caffeic acid(17), p-Hydroxyphenylacetin acid(18),Chlorogenic acid(19),Protocatechuic acid(20), (-)-Rhododendrol 4'-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(21),p-Aminophenol(22),Physcion(23), Rhein(24),Adenine(27),β-Sitosteryl-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(28),have been isolated from the ethanol extract of the stems of Ephedra sinica by means of chromatography and identified by spectroscopic methods.In addition,two other compounds were also isolated from the stems of Ephedra sinica in this study and their structures haven't been determined by the end of my master degree exercises.Compounds 7,13,14,18,21~24 and 27 were isolated from this species for the first time.In addition,we conducted the pharmacological activity screen for some isolates in this theme on cytotoxic,anti-inflammatory,antioxidant and hypoglycemic effect.The result didn't show the above activity for the screened constituents.The ~1H NMR method was established for the fingerprinting analysis of the stems of E.sinica and six samples from different purchase region were recorded on NMR spectrometer.The characteristic signals of the ~1H NMR fingerprint was assigned through analyzing the ~1H NMR signals of every compound and comparing them with that of the control substances for plant drug(CSPD) of E.sinica.The stems of E.sinica employed showed good identity to each other in so far as the profile of the ~1H NMR spectra of their CSPD B and exhibited exclusive characteristic features in the composition of the ~1H NMR signals.
