| Objective: To explore hormone treatment of dysfunctional uterine bleeding in adolescence so as to enhance the prognosis of these patients.Methods: A medical record was reviewed and analyzed. The patient was treated by our hospital in 2008. Literature was reviewed to investigate how to treat patients of dysfunctional uterine bleeding.Results: This case was a 16-year-old girl, she complained abnormal uterine bleeding for 4 years which lead to severe anemia. She was treated with irregular estrogen and progesterone for a long time in 2008. This couldn't stop bleeding and she was found uterine enlargement and thickening of endometrium. Her uterus returned to normal size after half of a year stopping hormone therapy.Conclusions: To give long-time and irregular estrogen and progester- one to treat dysfunctional uterine bleeding in adolescence can lead to uterine enlargement and ovarian functional cyst. |
