Objective: To provide morphomogic bases for clinical selective tibal neurotomy of the muscular branches to soleus for calf reduction.Method: 28Lower extremities specimens 18cases were taken from fresh adult cadavers, The origin, the number, length of the muscular branches to soleus and relations with other branches of the tibial nerve were observed. Results: The mean length, width, and thickness of the soleus muscle belly were 32.5±3.1cm, 11.7±2.6cm, 1.8±0.5cm: All soleus muscular branches stem from tibial never. There were 25soleuses with only one muscular branch,3 with two muscular brancheses, of 23 cases have common trunk with the muscular branch to lateral gastrocnemius and 5 case with the muscular branch to deep layer muscles of calf. The mean length from the start point of the soleus muscular branches to the centre of the popliteal fossa was about 7.5±2.9cm, to the point of entrance of the accessory never into soleus was about1.9±0.21cm.Conclusions: The incision of selective tibial neurotomy of the muscular branches to the soleus for calf reduction shoule located in about 6cm,just below the centre of the popliteal fossa, the muscular branch was transected on the point of entrance of the accessory never into soleus, which will reduce damages to other muscular branches.
