| Objective:To evaluate outcome of anterior correction for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis(AIS) type Lenke5.Material and methods:A retrospective study was conducted to review 19 patients (from July 2007 to July 2009) with AIS type5. All the patients underwent operation of anterior correction. To evaluate outcome of anterior correction by measuring Cobb angle of thoracolumbar, T1-CSVL and Apex-CVSL.Results:All the patients underwent the procedure safely without severe complication such as infection, spinal cord injury and so on. The mean operative time was 190 minutes(1 60-250 minutes), the average blood loss was 285ml(200-600ml), and the mean fusion level was 4.65 (4-6). The average follow-up duration was 13 months (ranging 6-24 months). The Cobb angle of thoracoumbar curve was 49.65±13.53°before operation, and it was 11.07±8.58°after operation and 14.27±7.51°at the latest follow-up.There was statistically significant difference between Preoperative and latest follow-up at Cobb angle of thoracoumbar, T1-CSVL, Apex-CVSL. Conclusion:Anterior correction for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis(AIS) type Lenke5 can achieve a satisfactory result. |
