ObjectiveTo discuss the relationship of TNF-a and obesity and GDM and its role on the mechanism of GDM of obesity pregnancy women.MethodsThe plasma TNF-αlevel were determined with ELISA in 15 cases of normal pregnancy women and 12 pre-pregnancy obesity and 12 weight gain excess during pregnancy and 15 pre-pregnancy obesity gestational diabetes mellitus and 16 gestational diabetes mellitus with normal pre-pregnancy BMI.ResultsComparing to normal pregnancy women, the concentration of TNF-αin pre-pregnancy obesity were significantly increased(P<0.01),the TNF-a concentration in weight gain excess during pregnancy also increase(P<0.05),but there was not obviously difference between them (P>0.05) Plasma TNF-a levels in pre-pregnancy obesity GDM was significantly increased than normal pregnancy group (P<0.001), GDM with normal pre-pregnancy BMI increased too (P<0.05),at the same time, there was difference between them, the TNF-a level in obesity GDM was higher than the normal BMI GDM(P<0.05). comparing to the pre-pregnancy and weight gain excess during pregnancy,Though the concentration of TNF-αwas higher, there was not obviously statistical difference (P>0.05). There was a positive correlation between TNF-a levels and pre-pregnancy and current BMI in GDM as well as normal glucose tolerance.ConclusionsTNF-αhas a close relationship with obesity and is suggested to play an important role in the development of GDM, It may be a bridge between obesity and GDM.
