ObjectivesThe objectives of this thesis lay in obtaining different levels of creative climate and various factors via the investigation of students in China Medical University. By comparing with traditional teaching, we explored the influence of PBL teaching on the creative climate of classroom and relative factors. The reasons that possibly found the disadvantages would be given a discuss in order to provide the evidence for PBL teaching reform in medical universities.MethodsLiterature research. We collected the literatures that were related to PBL and creative climate, got the information about the research status and relative theory, made an analysis of the dimension and measurement of creative climate and obtained the research basis and directions.Deep interview. The students who was taught by PBL and those who had traditional classes were interviewed and combined with field observation in order to know about the basic conditions, including implementation effect and existed problems under PBL teaching model in China Medical University, finally providing the data for research analysis.Field survey. The basic data mainly came from the survey of students of China Medical University, by the questionnaire created by the researcher which had a testified reliability and structure validity. With the method of exploratory factor analysis, we limited the extraction of five factors, and the questionnaire included five factors such as student cooperation, relaxed study, heuristic teaching, democratic classroom and innovative support. We investigated the data of students from grade 1 to 3 in China Medical University and creative climate of classroom under the medical PBL teaching and traditional teaching model.ResultsBy statistical analysis of survey data we found there was high "student cooperation","heuristic teaching","democratic classroom" of creative climate of classroom in CMU,but the level of "relaxed study" and "innovative support" was low. Besides of PBL teaching method, the factors of gender, language and educational system could also affect the level of creative climate of classroom, "student cooperation","relaxed study","innovative support" and "creative climate of classroom" of girls were significant higher than boys', and the level of "student cooperation","heuristic teaching","democratic classroom" and "creative climate of classroom" of students who studied Japanese than students who studied English. Seven-year students'"student cooperation" was significantly higher than five-year students. The statistics data was analyzed to acquire the whole feature of creative climate in China Medical University; the difference of gender, language and school systems all influenced the levels of creative climate of classroom except for PBL teaching model; comparing with the traditional model, the higher "student cooperation", "heuristic teaching" and "democratic classroom" were observed in PBL teaching besides better innovative climate in classroom; however, the two aspects including "relaxed study" and "innovative support" were still low.ConclusionsSo far, PBL teaching model in China Medical University has played a role in improving the creative climate of classroom, in particular strengthening "student cooperation", "heuristic teaching" and "democratic classroom", but the level of "relaxed study" and "innovative support" were still low. In order to increase the creative climate of classroom and bring up students'creativity, we give some advice as follows:to cultivate teachers'innovative awareness and organized ability; to help build up good companionship; to improve the inspiring teaching methods; to arrange the teaching activities rationally; to construct the scientific appraisal system and so on.
