| In education field, the examination is an important part in the whole teaching process. It is a tool which was used to evaluating not only the knowledge and abilities of student learning, but also the effects of the teachers'teaching. With the rapid development and widespread using of computers science, using computer set up an item bank is an important means to achieve the standardization and scientific of examination. It also can make teaching and evaluating separated. Basic medical science courses involve many important courses, so nearly all the students need to learn these courses in medical schools. These courses lay a solid foundation for many medical professions and national medical licensure examination which medical students need to take after graduated. Basic medical science courses are really starting stage of medical professional education. This research aim at the design and operation mechanism of item bank in basic medical, especially in the item and item management. Using computer for automatically generating the test paper, and ultimately building an effective item bank step by step. Students who come from collaborative schools take part in an associated examination. The examination paper is automatically generated under the required of proposition. Collecting and analyzing the results of the examination, then using the feedback analyze the effectiveness and feasibility of item bank in basic medicine. It is benefit for it's improve and development.Object and methodsThe study collect the final examination papers of systematic anatomy, biochemistry, histology and embryology, physiology, pathogen biology, immunology, pharmacology, pathology, pathophysiology, medical genetics and cell biology from thirteen collaborative schools in the past three years. Thirteen collaborative schools (Order at a stroke) are Shanxi Medical University, Dalian Medical University, China Medical University, Inner Mongolia Medical College, Shehezi University School of Medicine, Hebei Medical University, Medical College of Qinghai University, Tianjin Army Medical College, Chongqing Medical University, Nanjing Medical University, Capital Medical University, Harbin Medical University.Using these final examination papers construct this comprehensive item bank in basic medicine, and organizing 4368 students who come from ten collaborative schools to take a biological chemistry final examination. Ten examination papers are automatically generated under the required of "a general examinational outline of comprehensive item bank in basic medicine". These accord with the uniform proposition scheme, and every examination paper include 150 test questions (50 common test questions).Then identify biochemistry answer sheets of every school and give a score, and establish a Excel data-base. Working out the difficulty (P) and distinctiveness(R) of each test papers and test questions. Analyzing reliability and validity of the whole test papers. Also completing analyzing the distributing of examination's result and assessing normality, using SPSS013.0 on the compute board.ResultsUnder the guidance of building principle of item bank in basic medicine, there is a comprehensive item bank which has 29175 test questions and 12 fields (type, difficulty etc.). The item bank has many modules, such as register, examination papers building, examination papers export, examination papers maintenance, item bank maintenance etc. Computer random provide ten sets of biological chemistry paper. The expect difficulty is 0.7. Analyzing score, difficulty, distinctiveness, reliability, validity, the results indicate the quality of ten set of biological chemistry paper is very high. It achieved the expected difficulty. The test papers are reliable and effective. ConclusionsThis comprehensive item bank in basic medicine can automatically generate the test papers according to the type, difficulty, score, knowledge point etc. The difficulty and distinctiveness of test papers draw out from this item bank is right. The reliability and validity is also high. The test papers evaluating students'ability is objective, fair and scientific. This way can not only alleviate the teachers' work pressure, improve efficiency, but also has an active effect for developing separating teaching and evaluating, promote education reform, improving education quality. So it has a good practical value. This study will be a great help for us to further improve the quality of the item bank in basic medicine. |
