Objective: To explore the effect of borneol solution on the expressions of GABA, GLU, andβ-EP in hippocampal dentate gyrus of anesthetized rats, clarify the mechanism of Borneol on awake based neurotransmitter.Methods: 55 female SD rats were collected. 5 rats were randomly divided into blank group and 10 rats were randomly divided into model group, alcohol control group, drug groups (low, middle and high-dose group) respectively. Drug groups were given different doses of ethanol solution of borneol gavage once a day for 3 days(25mg/Kg,100mg/Kg,200mg/Kg),one time for 3ml per day. Alcohol control group was given the same amount of ethanol solution. One hour after the last administration the rats were anesthetized by intraperitoneal injection of chloral hydrate(350g/Kg), observe the Loss of righting reflex and recovery time. Tissues were chose after the rats were injected the chloral hydrate(175 mg/Kg). The expressions of GABA, GLU, andβ-EP in hippocampal dentate gyrus were studied by the immunohistochemical method.Results:①It is not significant that affects of the drug groups and alcohol control group to the time of rats'loss of righting reflex time and recovery.②The expressions of GABA, GLU, andβ-EP in hippocampal dentate gyrus were all observed.③The expression of GABA in the hippocampal dentate gyrus of the differences between the drug groups,alcohol control group and the blank group were significant(P<0.01). The drug groups was significantly reduced compared with the blank group and the model group(P<0.01~0.05);The expression of GLU is not statistically significant in hippocampal dentate gyrus of every group (P> 0.05);The expression ofβ-EP in model group was reduced significantly compared with that in the blank group(P<0.05). The alcohol control group compared with the blank group and the model group was not significant. While, it was increased significantly in middle and high-dose groups compared with that in model group(P<0.01~0.05). Moreover, the expression ofβ-EP in high-dose group increased significantly compared with that in alcohol control group (P <0.05).Conclusion:①The affects of single borneol on Conscious State of Anesthetized Rats was not significant.②The decreased expression of GABA and increased expression ofβ-EP in hippocampal dentate gyrus of anesthetized and normal rats may be one mechanism of inducing resuscitation affected by borneol.
