| Objective Spasticity is a common complication of spinal cord injury(SCI), which had many influence factors. This study observed the relationships between spasticiy and injury location or injury severity, early treatment after injury, surgery, urinary tract infections, pressure ulcers, rehabilitation intervention, then to foud the factors which would induce or aggravate spasm after SCI, and determined the independent factors.Method 143 clinical cases with traumatic spinal cord injury from June 2003 to May 2008 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University were collected to retrospective analyses. The seven possible influence factors were taken into observation: Injury location, injury severity, early treatment after injury, surgery, urinary tract infections, pressure ulcers, rehabilitation intervention. First, the univariate analysis were made to the seven factors and determined which would induce or aggravate spasm after SCI. Then, a further two categories non-conditional Logistic regression was made to the factors with statistically significant and determined the independent factors which would affect the spasm after SCI (ie, The independent impact factors). Results The univariate analysis showed some results as follows:1. The spasticity incidences were different in patients with different injury plane; 2.The spasticity incidences in incomplete SCI were higher than the complete SCI; 3.The spasticity incidences in patients started treatments within one month were low; 4.The spasticity incidences in patients accepted surgical operation were low, while those accepted surgical operation in two weeks after injury were lower; 5. The spasticity incidences in patients with urinary tract infection or pressure ulcers were high. 6. The spasticity incidences in patients accepted rehabilitation intervention were low, while those accepted rehabilitation intervention in one month after injury were lower. The multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that: the level of SCI,the degree of SCI,early treatment after injury and early rehabilitation intervention were the independent factors. Conclusion The level of SCI,the degree of SCI,early treatment after injury, surgical treatment or not,the urinary tract infections, the pressure ulcers and the rehabilitation intervention all were the influence factors which which would induce or aggravate spasm after SCI. The level of SCI,the degree of SCI,early treatment after injury and early rehabilitation intervention were the independent factors. |
