Objective:Through the analysis of clinical cases, summarize the experiences in the diagnosis and treatment of liver focal nodular hyperplasia(FNH).Methods:35 cases in our hospital from 2007.1 to 2010.2 were retrospectively analyzed by their imaging and pathological findings. Results:The male to female ratio of FNH is 0.79:1 in our hospital, and the tumors occur in all age groups, especially in women in their third to fourth decades of life. The lesion is usually solitary, with no significant difference in distribution in left or right lobe. Conventional ultrasound examination is used to screen the lesions. Contrast-enhanced US(CEUS) has higher specificity compared to CT scan(87.5% vs. 33.3%, p<0.01), but has no statistical difference with MR imaging(MRI)(87.5% vs. 72.7%,p>0.05). Moreover, MRI has a higher specificity(72.7%vs.33.3%, p=0.04) compared to CT scan. Conclusion:For the diagnosis of FNH, all of the imaging examinations have high sensitivity but are not satisfying in specificity. Among them, CEUS and MRI show higher specificity in diagnosis. Because FNH is a benign tumor with no malignant potential, surgical resection should be performed only in doubtful cases or in symptomatic patients.
