Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy and adverse events of 595nm, controllable pulse width, pulse dye laser (PDL) for the treatment of various kinds of vascular dermatosis.Methods:105 cases of selective skin hemangioma were collected in the Dermatology Dept of our hospital from October 2008 to March 2009. Age, type and location of the lesion, efficacy and side-effects after laser therapy were retrospectively studied in virtual reality in the database of skin hemangioma. Follow-up had been performed for more than 2 months to observe if the uncomfortable symptoms were improved compared with the previous. Results:Total effective rates of 595nm controllable pulse staining laser treatment to skin hemangioma were:79.45% for port wine stains,96.00% for strawberry hemangioma, 25.00% for mixed hemangioma, but almost ineffective to cavernous hemangioma. The efficacy was better for younger patients (P<0.01~0.05) and for location around the eyes or in the head, face and neck (P<0.01~0.05). The incidence of congestion and edema was higher among the postoperative side-effects. Transient congestion and edema of different degrees occurred in almost all the patients but reduced after about 4-5 days. There were 2 cases of superficial scar (1.90%). Conclusion:595nm controllable pulse dye laser is the third generation of PDL for the treatment of vascular dermatosis, which has wavelength of deeper penetration and broad pulse width of 1.5-40 ms. It can apply to pathological vasculars of almost all kinds of diameters with light adverse reaction after treatment. Only a few patients can be observed with side effects such as scaring and abnormal pigmentation. Thus, the 595nm controllable pulse-width PDL is an efficient and safe therapeutic approach for the treatment of skin vascular abnormalities at present.
