ObjectivesThe definition of short stature is a height more than 2 standard deviations below the mean for age and gender, or below the third percentile. The causes of short stature are complicated, so the diagnosis are very important. This paper analyses the clinical data of 53 children with short stature, so we can find out the diagnostic flow of short stature initially, to provide a worthy reference of diagnosis, treatment and prevention for those type of dwarfisms.Methods53 children were collected,among them 34 were males,19 were females,their average age is 10.3. All of the children were collected detail medical history and taken both physical and laboratory examinations, at last,the statistical data was statistical analyzed, and the outpatient service's diagnostic flow of short stasture was set up.Results1,To analyse the clinical data of 53 children with short stature, growth hormone-deficient and idiopathic short stature could cause short stature. There were 22 cases (41.51%, primary 20 cases, secondary 2 cases) and 21 cases (39.62%, no obvious reason 11 cases, delayed puberty 7 cases, familial short stature 3 cases) respectively; 2 cases(3.77%)have achronic illness; 4 cases(7.55%)were intrauterine growth retardation; 2 case(3.77%)have pituitary neoplasms; 1 case(1.87%) has abnormal thyroid function; 1 case(1.87%) was diagnosed dyschondroplasia.2,The medical and family history diagnostic flow in children with short stature(Figure 1).3,The physical examination diagnostic flow in children with short stature(Figure 2).4,The laboratory diagnostic flow in children with GHD and ISS(Figure 3).Conclusions1,The causes of short stature are multifarious. In Development Pediatric Department, growth hormone-deficient and idiopathic short stature are common factors.2,The medical and family history diagnostic flow in children with short stature(Figure 1).3,The physical examination diagnostic flow in children with short stature(Figure 2).4,The laboratory diagnostic flow in children with GHD and ISS(Figure 3).
