ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the shape and structure of the nasal vestibule in the children with mild cleft palate alone and take the initial measurement, guiding cleft lip nasal deformity plasty personalized design and structure of the right nasal vestibule reconstruction; guiding the production of nasal retainer in order to maintain postoperative shape of cleft lip nasal deformities and the development of alar cartilage.MethodsObtained the simple model of nasal vestibule in 15 cases children with mild cleft palate alone, between the ages of 7-24 months, under general anesthesia, with silicone rubber impression materials; observed and measured the gypsum model and analyzed statistically the measurement results.ResultsThrough the observations and measurements of the silica gel model and plaster model, summarized nasal vestibule common structure, and gained the data on the height. And we found a significantly correlation between the height of notril and nasal vestibular. Both lateral and medial nasal vestibule have a knurl. The distance between bilateral nasal vestibular fornix longer than the distance between bilateral nostrils, so that nasal columella and nasal septum was keyhole-shaped; between the two processes in the same side, there is a from the front lines to back-outside flat pressure trace; nasal vestibular fornix impression gradually narrowed backwards; Posterior nasal vestibular fornix there is a from the front line to the back-outside deeper pressure trace. Along the direction from the bottom to upside of columella, the overall shape similarity with the above view, the middle of the keyhole-shaped columella and nasal septum, at the back-outside of nasal embankment on both sides there are two processes of the nasal vestibule bottom; a from front to back-outside crest behind the process on each side. Between the crests and the process, there is a deeper pressure trace. According to the Nostrils and nasal vestibule height measurement data, we found between the height of nostril and the one of nasal vestibular fornix has a highly significant correlation, the linear formula is y= 1.475x (y is nasal vestibule height, x is the nose height).ConclusionRight nasal vestibule structure from this research can provide a reference to clinicians in surgery to restore relatively normal patterns of nasal vestibule. And the data gained from this study can effectively guide the production and improvement of existing nasal retainer. Further basic and statistical research is needed.
