| ObjectiveTo compare the curative effect of procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids (PPH) with milligan-morgan hemorrhoidectomy for acute incarcerated hemorrhoids.MethodsA retrospective study of 103 patients with acute incarcerated hemorrhoids treated by surgery was performed. The patients were divided into treatment group (n=58) and control group (n=45) according to the different operation program who underwent. Operating time, pain scores, time required for anodyne, postoperative complications, hospital stay and hospital charges were compared.ResultsThe symptoms were both relieved in two groups patients. Although the hospital charges of patients in control group were fewer, the patients in treatment group had advantages of shorter operating time, less postoperative pain, lower time required for anodyne, fewer complications and shorter hospital stay (P<0.01).ConclusionPPH is as safe and effective as milligan-morgan hemorrhoidectomy and furthermore its short-term therapeutic effect is better than milligan-morgan hemorrhoidectomy. |
