We can detect urinary Podocalyxin concentration in the different pathological types of glomerulopathy and the relationship between Podocalyxin and urine protein to explore the expression of the Podocyte marker proteins podocalyxin in the different pathological types of kidney disease in the urine and its application in diagnosis and treatment of renal disease in significance.MethodsWe choose 60 patients with a variety of pathological types who are all diagnosed definitely with kidney disease by renal biopsy from July 2009 to February 2010 in our hospital. They all have disease for a short time and they have not been treated systemly by the hormones and the immune inhibitor. Patients's renal function are normal. And healthy controls is in 18 cases. The PCX kit is a solid phase sandwich enzyme linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA), it can detect of the urinary podocalyxin (PCX) concentration of diseased group and healthy control group.ResultsUrinary PCX concentration of disease was significantly higher than healthy controls P<0.001, and PCX urine concentration of proliferative glomerulonephritis was significantly higher than non-proliferative glomerulonephritis P= 0.007. We analysis the correlation between PCX and urine protein in urine, non-proliferative GN group was positively correlated with urinary protein, while the proliferative GN group had no correlation with urinary protein. In IgAN, LN, MN, we divide the patient into groups according to the severity of pathology. PCX concentration in urine increased gradually with the aggravation of pathological P<0.05. There is no correlation between urinary PCX concentration and urine protein in this three pathological types glomerulopathy. In MCD we divide the patient into groups according to urinary protein, NS group was significantly higher than no NS group P= 0.003, and urinary PCX and urine protein was positively correlated, While in other pathological types of glomerulopathy, there is no correlation between PCX concentration and urine protein.Conclusion1. Urinary PCX concentration of various pathological types glomerulopathy was significantly higher than urinary PCX concentration of the control group. So podocyte-specific marker proteins(PCX) can be as a biological marker for clinical diagnosis of kidney disease.2. Urinary PCX concentration of proliferative Glomerulonephritis were significantly higher than non-proliferative Glomerulonephritis. In IgAN,LN and MN, Urinary PCX concentration increased gradually with the aggravation of pathology. So it can be a indicators to Judge the proliferation of kidney disease and Severity of pathology.3. In MCD, Urinary PCX concentration are positively correlated with urine protein. In IgAN,LN,MN, urinary PCX concentration have no correlation with urine protein. The relationship between urine PCX and urine protein is not yet clear. Further study is needed.
