Objective:To investigate changes of the central retinal artery(CRA) hemodynamics of patients with diabetic retinopathy(DR) by color doppler ultrasonography. Methods:CRA hemodynamics of patients(105 eyes) with DR were measured by color Doppler imaging(CDI) and 20 volunteers(40eyes) without DRP were contrasted. All of 105 eyes was divided into three groups: nondiabetic retinopathy(NDR) group (36eyes), nonproliferative diabetic rctinopathy (NDPR) group (34eyes). proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) group (35eyes),and 40 normal eyes as controls. Also three groups of DR will be compared with eachother. The indexes included systolic peak blood flow velocity (PSV), diastolic blood flow velocity (EDV), mean blood flow velocity (Vm), pulsatility index (PI) and resistant index (RI) of central retinal arteryResults:Compared with the normal volunteers. there were statistical significance in PSV,EDV,Vm,PI and RI of central retinal artery of the patients with NDR,NPDR and PDR.Compared with the NDR group, there were also statistical significance in PSV,EDV,Vm,PI and RI of the central retinal artery of the patients with NPDR and PDR .Between NDPR and PDR, there was no statistical significance in PSV, EDV, Vm, PI and RI of central retinal artery. The result showed that PSV and EDV decrease and RI and PI rise as retinopathy became seriousConclusion:The retinal circulation resistance increases and the retinas is ischemic in the patient with diabetic mellitus.Futhermore, so the hemodynamics changes of the central retinal artery are correlated with diabetic retinopathy. CDI detection on post-ocular the central retinal artery hemodynamics of patients with diabetic retinopathy has an important clinical significance for diagnosis of DR and the study on its etiology. It also has substantial value for the treatment and evaluation of DM patients.
