Objective:to evaluate the anti-tumor effort of the rapamycin on lung tumor and the relevant mechanism. Methods:nude mice bearing human lung cancer cell were randomly divided into 3 groups:control group, rapamycin low dose group, rapamycin high dose group.the effect on the tumor growth was evaluated using tumor weight after 21 days.VEGF and PCNA expression in the tumor tissue were detected by using immunohistochemistry. Conclusion:there was a significant difference between the three groups(P<0.01).the growth of tumor in the nude mice was inhibited when the animals were exposed to rapamycin. We think that the antitumor effort of rapamycin attributes to the retardation of tumor cell growth and the downregulation of VEGF expression probably.
